Welcome to the Council @HivemindCap
I’ve been thinking a lot about patience in the aftermath of the last chapter:
Its internal reward if activated at just the right time, and its external misinterpretation if ignored until its most visible activation.
Hive and @zhang_matt have circled around Luci for nearly 2 years.
But a few weeks back, outside the Yale campus where I went to chat with him for a sort of blockchain summit panel, we waited for nearly an hour for a burger that claimed to be the oldest burger in the United States, forced to wait as it cooked at a glacial pace in its original I presume lead-lined iron oven.
Now, I don’t know the goings ons inside capital investment cultural funds - maybe market research and spreadsheets analyzing the trajectory of collection sizes and floor prices put into a matrix of risk assessment models, or something like that. But I find the timing of this acquisition to indicate a greater form of humanity at play. I like to think that 2 years of number crunching and all the data in the world was not what put them over the edge to jump in and double down, but rather: a very old and very slowly cooked slab of beef between two pieces of bread in an old shack in an even older town with a grand claim to fame for making the oldest form of something everyone loves: a burger.
Maybe our numbers need stories.
