The Door

The door is an introspective piece. I am confronting the idea of what it means to be a world builder and a storyteller in the modern era, using an array of software instead of a brush and canvas. How connected to the work are we when we utilize modern technology? Does this make our work less valid because of the lack of physicality? I don’t believe so. 

The stranger/ the visitor is a recurring character within my body of work, originally created as a metaverse avatar named the exo-1, they have taken on a life of their own. They are a visitor/ a vessel for many of the themes I am trying to tell through my body of work yet I have never confronted them directly. I have embodied them via motion capture technology and spent hours crafting them but never appeared in the same frame as them. The door is the idea of opening the barrier between the physical and digital world.

This piece utilizes many different softwares/ techniques and is a foray into a new line of work that is meant to close the gap between the fantastical and the real.
