"Jasmin" By Poppy Shaw

This piece is named after and inspired by Jasmin Imuta, the subject in the photograph. I love to create scenes that represent the essence of a feeling or personality yet are completely staged. For this one in particular, I wanted to make a daydream-like experience, evoking Jasmin’s gentle and pleasant nature. I used a warm light to create a glowing blanket of comfort across the image. The choice of yellows, greens, and wood tones are to add a more naturalistic feel to the photo, despite it being an interior. The white satin table cloth as well as the vintage tea pot are nods to jasmine flowers and tea. To me this picture represents serenity - relaxing in a dream state.
