"Glaze / Laserunek" By Magdalena Bielesz

"Laserunek" (eng Glaze / mean: applying paint) is another video from the series of recordings of short performances which I did with my son. The video, like all my works talks about two roles: two identities enclosed in one body. Those are mother - Magdalena Tereszczuk (husband's name) and painter - Magdalena Bielesz (maiden name). Instead of using two balls, in this case I use a mirror. The mirror image is one of my identities, the other is the one in front of the mirror. This is a kind of humorous self portrait of the painter - painting hair with a brush this time. In the background you can hear the child singing. This is my son playing in the bathroom, so it is a portrait of the painter and mother. In fact, both identities are equally important - the mother stays in the room with her son feeling safe with her and the painter in the way she can at the moment - paints and in this case paints her hair.
