Jana Ireijo - Love Bites
"Love Bites" by Jana Ireijo "Love Bites" is my love letter to Honolulu and growing up there in the 80's. I painted this while thinking back to a really dark time, and how going to the ocean was always really healing. This beach is a particularly beautiful place to swim, and sacred in Hawaiian culture. Often a rainbow appears. But under the surface, it's an entirely different world, and the home of sharks and unseen riptides. Jana Ireijo was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and graduated with an MFA in Painting from Pratt Institute. Jana is the founder of Mural Ethos: Vanishing Murals. Mural Ethos creates ephemeral “vanishing” murals that illustrate the effects of the environment due to climate change. The primary medium used is charcoal from the Australia and California bushfires. The murals are temporary and return to earth with the elements. Jana was recently commissioned by The Nature Conservancy to create a Vanishing Coral Reef mural to highlight coral bleaching in Hawaii. Medium: Oil, sharpie, and glitter on canvas For more work: www.muralethos.com IG: divineislands_art.com
